About

Having done this whole parenting thing for the past 8 years or so, I’ve realised that I actually quite enjoy it, even though I feel like I’m just winging it most of the time. Who are the ones I do the parent thing with?

To start with, we have Lara Marisa. My first born, and the one that literally looked like Snow White the day she made her first appearance in the world. She was actually due on Christmas Eve, but decided that 10 days and an Emergency C-Section later, she’d be born on January 3rd- the Monday of the Year, when everyone is poor from the Holidays, tired from the Holidays, and forced to go back to work or school! But that doesn’t phase her or myself. She gets to have the first birthday party of the year, and begins making plans a good month early. This is the girl who made me a Mother, and I really owe her one for that! Thank you, Baby Girl, for coming into my life! Xx

Then we have Juliana Isabel- born exactly 14 months after her sister, with her beautiful olive green eyes, her olive skin, silky curly hair, and it turns out, one of the most fiery personalities anyone could possibly deal with!! Mind you, for the first 2 years of her life the girl was a literal Angel! I mean, she’d sleep most of the time, eat, play and go back to sleep! It was better than Text Book!! Oh, but the day she turned 2, and something clicked. She suddenly awoke her true self and OMG what is this!! For one of the sweetest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, loving and nurturing, this girl is FIRE!! But how I love her so much. She has these big Disney Eyes that melt you to bits- after she’s driven you to borderline insanity!! Julie, you are actually awesome!!

Then we have Aslan- Turkish for Lion and I’m not sure I gave him the perfect name or not. Yes, it sounds lovely and all, but I often feel like I actually did give birth to a Lion!! Or a Bull, because he’s a Taurus! This darling son of mine, however, is something else… they say boys can be very close with their mothers, and in this instance, I’m going to have to agree with that. I look at him and my heart literally bursts. He sees me in the morning and says “Good Morning, Mummy, did you sleep well?” I mean, how do you even cope with that?! If I’m sad, he comes and hugs me and tells me it’s ok. For a stubborn 4 year old, he has a massive heart made of pure gold. My Darling Son, grow, but never change!!

Finally, there’s myself, Rute, and my Husband, Murat! A young married couple trying to figure this whole thing out and still enjoying being around each other!! A lot of what we do is for these kids we made, but seeing our kids grow and watching their personalities thrive, it’s kinda awesome!

I want to use this space to talk about parenting, motherhood, child development, all the good, the bad and the ugly that is involved when it comes to having and raising children! This will also be a space for creativity, collaboration and a platform for others to share their own thoughts and experience into parenthood.

Get in touch if you want to get involved!!

Lots of love!

Rute xx
